Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) Resources

  • A website with IBL activities for precalculus (as well as for calculus!): http://www.iblcalculus.com/precalculus
    • This website has some nice activities for learning precalculus concepts, such as functions in general, linear functions, and exponential functions. These activities could be useful for someone wanting to try out using activities in a precalculus course, as well as for those who already incorporate activities.
    • This authors of this website appear to be Mairead Greene (Rockhurst University) and Christine Von Renesse (Westfield State University).
  • Discovering the Art of Mathematics website: https://www.artofmathematics.org/
    • This website has 11 free downloadable IBL-focused textbooks designed for semester-long courses (not necessarily Pathway to Calculus, Statistics, or Quantitative Reasoning specific, but there is a topic index that allows you to look up sections of the textbooks related to these three pathways).
  • The Academy of Inquiry Based Learning website: http://www.inquirybasedlearning.org/
    • This website contains Information about IBL workshops, classroom lessons, and textbooks (as well as other resources).
  • The Journal of Inquiry-Based Learning in Mathematics: http://jiblm.org//index.php
    • This website contains refereed course notes for a variety of mathematics topics, which could be use to develop IBL modules.
